Many people are apprehensive about dental care so making your visit comfortable is a priority. We believe the relationship we have with our patients is a partnership. We want our patients to be well-informed about the care we offer so they can make good decisions about their dental treatment. In return, we are committed to providing the highest quality care in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. While Dr. Dyer is committed to learning the newest techniques, he also knows his many years of experience is his greatest resource.
We believe that our time is valuable, but not more valuable than yours, so one of our goals is to run “on time.” Your appointment time is yours alone and you have all of Dr. Dyer’s attention during your visit. We offer early morning appointments every weekday, well before the business day starts, making sure you are in and out without missing your morning meeting.
Dr. Dyer received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh, where he played Varsity Football for 4 years. After graduating from Pitt Dental school, he was an “Army Dentist” for 2 years at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, spending a year in the crown and bridge clinic and a year in the endo clinic doing root canals. After discharge, he opened his practice in Peters Township. as well as one on Carson Street in the Southside. The Southside practice closed in 1997, and he is very proud and honored that many of those patients decided not to look for a new dentist but instead to make the trek to his Peters office. He practices family dentistry treating children as young as 2 and as old as 98!
Dr Dyer loves being a dentist! Recent research has shown a strong connection between dental disease and many other health problems.. It is very satisfying to him to know that when he helps a patient improve their dental health he is also helping to protect their general well-being. It is a great source of pride and pleasure to him that many parents who are entrusting him with the care of their children’s teeth were his patients when they were children.
Carolyn came to work in the office 22 years ago. She met Dr. Dyer her freshman year at Pitt and they married right after she graduated. They have 4 sons and she was happy to stay at home with them until the youngest was a senior in high school. At that time the office manager position opened and they decided she would try it. She is the insurance coordinator for our office making sure our patients understand their policy benefits and utilize them efficiently. She enjoys working in the office and is quite sure that is because we have the nicest patients!
Dr. Dyer considers himself very fortunate that Mary Helen has worked with him for 23 years. She has a Bachelor of Music degree in music education from Grove City College, and a Master of Music degree from Duquesne University. In addition to dental assisting she is a church music director, private piano teacher, wife, mother and grandmother. Mary Helen has two careers and loves them both. Our patients benefit not only from her skill as a dental assistant but also from her soothing humming.
